Climate Justice Social: This Thursday, 4/25 at the PAT

in

Dear Portland Area Rethinking Schools Friends,

The good news: In 2016, the Portland Public Schools board of education passed the most comprehensive climate justice policy in the country.

The bad news: The PPS administration is refusing to implement it.

Please join teachers, students, and community activists this Thursday, April 25th, at the Portland Association of Teachers for the second "Teach Climate Justice" social. (4 pm social; 4:30-6 pm program.) Sponsored by the PPS Climate Justice Committee and the PAT Social Justice and Community Outreach Committee.

The district is out of compliance with the resolution passed three years ago, but momentum is building among students and teachers to move this work forward. We will explore ways to move the school district to fully implement the climate justice Resolution #5272.

We will hear from students about climate justice education and activism, hear about climate justice activities in the schools, and establish concrete action items for implementation this school year.
