July 1 deadline for Social Justice teaching workshop proposal

Dear Portland Area Rethinking Schools friends,

We will be accepting workshop proposals through July 1 for the Northwest Teaching for Social Justice conference. The conference will be in Seattle at Chief Sealth International High School, Saturday, October 17. It will be wonderful -- inspiring, warm, knowledge-heavy, resource-rich. See old friends. Make new ones. Eat great food. Buy all the new Rethinking Schools books -- and re-subscribe to the magazine. Be reminded why you went into education.

Go to www.nwtsj.org. Click on "Workshop Proposal Application" in the upper left of the website. The website also includes programs from years past so you can get a sense for the kind of sessions that we have previously offered. We are looking for proposals on social justice teaching, but also on strategies to organize to defend public education, how educators and community activists are collaborating, ways to transform whole schools and districts -- anything that has to do about educating to make the world a better place.

Please consider drafting and submitting a proposal.
