The NAACP Portland Chapter, The Black Parent Initiative, Teaching with Purpose, The Portland African American Leadership Forum, Correct Connect, Oregon Writing Project, Linda Christensen, Phinishing Touch Photography, Lori By Desygn, Albina Ministerial Alliance, Teachable Moments Consulting, LLC and Nichole Watson are co-hosting a Black Voices School Board Candidates Forum, Monday, March 13, 2017 beginning at 6:30pm at Maranatha Church located at 4222 NE 12th Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97211.

Both candidates-Rita Moore and Jamila Singleton Munson-have been invited to participate. These candidates are running for the seat in Zone 4 currently occupied by Director Steve Buel.
One of our most important objectives is to educate our community and the public on issues that affect and impact children. To that end, the above-mentioned organizations are co-hosting this forum to allow community members to learn more about each PPS School Board candidate's knowledge of issues affecting our students' education. As nonpartisan organizations, we do not support or oppose either of the candidates but rather encourage the public to learn about the candidates and the issues, and to cast an informed vote.

The forum is open to the public and will be recorded. The schedule of telecasts and/or webcasts will be announced at the event. The moderator, Velma Johnson, Ed.D., President of Teachable Moments Consulting, LLC, will give each candidate an opportunity to briefly address the audience, and then they each will be asked a series of questions. Members of the audience will then have an opportunity to ask additional questions. To submit a question, visit: https://goo.gl/PGpQbM
