This Saturday, Willamette River Sacrifice Zones: An Environmental Justice Tour

in

Dear Portland Area Rethinking Schools friends,

Just announced:

This Saturday, May 4, Sarah Taylor -- former principal at Sunnyside Environmental School -- will lead "Willamette River Sacrifice Zones: An Environmental Justice Tour." We will meet at the Montgomery Park parking lot at 9:30 am. The tour will last until 2:30.

We will explore the natural and social history of the area between Forest Park and the Willamette River -- the former Guild's Lake, Kittredge Lake, and Doane Lake. Part of this area is where Zenith is bringing in tar sands oil, and where the Extinction Rebellion is holding sit-ins on the train tracks leading into Zenith.

Our itinerary will include discussing curricular implications of what we see and learn.

RSVP here: https://forms.gle/53sfRKqzk6MygdER6

We'll be sending more details soon.

Sponsored by the PPS Climate Justice Committee.

I hope you can make it. Please share with colleagues.

Best, Bill Bigelow
