Teaching for Social Justice Conference, Oct. 17

We've been putting together the agenda for this year's Northwest Teaching for Social Justice conference, and it looks great. David Stovall, an inspiring Chicago teacher and teacher educator, will be keynoting: "We Still Need to Trouble the Water: Race, Revolution, and the Struggle for Quality Education."

Conference highlights will include sessions on "Building an Opt-Out Movement in Your Community"; "Rhythm and Resistance: Teaching Poetry for Social Justice"; "Black Students' Lives Matter"; STEM Teaching for Social Justice"; "Educating Activist Allies: Teaching for Social Justice in Communities of Privilege"; "Blockadia: Teaching the Global Movement to Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground"; "Making Schools Safe for LGBTQ Students" and many more. The conference includes more than 60 workshops.

Dozens of community organizations and publishers will also be displaying their wares in a Resource Fair.
